Modernising and remodelling dated properties is something that is in our DNA at BOW. It was obvious upon being approached by this client in 2023, that this is exactly what was required. This traditional 1950’s property was once in the grounds of a very prestigious school in Sussex. It has since served as a family home for the last 40 years. With the original children now all grown up, the client required a new and 21st century flow to accommodate the newest generation and the space they need.

Adding natural light and premium finishes was a strict part of the brief from the client. With little design detail to work from, we were entrusted to work out the details as we went with the client, navigated by that initial brief, with a consistent focus on the allocated budget.

We had to engineer a steel design to remove 3 internal walls and support everything above, making space for a large kitchen and living area, and with double pocket doors leading into the dining room. We added a single story kitchen extension to accommodate the new bespoke kitchen and utility bootroom.
